Goodness, it’s been a long time since I’ve come here. Between working part-time and applying to occupational therapy school, life has been full, just the way I love it. I have been steadily redoing the Facets of Grief website in my spare time, working on converting the workshop into a book form and writing a guided journal for grief. But for the holidays, I decided to do something I haven’t done in a long time and create a little series for grief during the holidays.
Holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, can be like salt on an open wound when you are grieving. Christmas marketing teams are shameless the way they bombard you, and in grief it often feels like an ambush every where you go. 12 Days of #MyHeartThisChristmas is an intentional way to slow down, guide your focus and attention within your own heart and find ways to tune out the rest of the world, even if for a moment. This series will focus on you as the griever, how to nurture your grief, how to find what heals your heart, how to narrow down the things that don’t make your grief worse, and how to implement practical self-care into your daily routine. Grief is very much like dying, without the actual dying. It is a defining moment of before and after. It is the end of something your heart needed, and the beginning of learning to live without it. It is also the birth of a new person within. For me personally, it was like being reborn. Learning to walk, talk and breath again without falling, running out of breath and feeling so helpless all of the time. Grief is a force to be reckoned with. If you find yourself in the thick of grief this December, I invite you to take part in this heart-healing series.
Below is the schedule of what I have planned to talk about. Each day, please come back and find out more as some of the prompts are hard to describe in a few words 🙂
